August 6, 2018

Dear Parents and Guardians;

On behalf of the entire Butteville Elementary School staff, we welcome you back to the 2018 – 2019 school year!  We hope you had a very good summer break and as you begin to think about school we would like to share some important information with you to make sure you are ready when school begins.

The first day of school is on August 20th, the first bell is at 8:15 a.m. and school begins at 8:20.  This is five minutes earlier than last year.  There are no changes to release times.  Breakfast will be served from 7:50 to 8:15 a.m.  Morning bus route times have been moved  to reflect the change, and there are some new stops and/or removed stops, so please refer to the bus route and bell schedule included in the First Day Packet for specific information.

The playground and swings surface areas are being refilled with new rubber mulch and safety borders and should be completed in time for recess on the first day, but please make sure your child has closed toe shoes and in dress code (guidelines in the parent handbook).

Picture day will be on August 30th this year and back to school night on September 13th.  Every teacher will be communicating with parents weekly electronically/social media, so please make sure you are taking advantage of every opportunity to stay in touch and up to date with classroom activities.

All staff has begun Active Shooter and Responsive Classroom training and will continue to receive professional development throughout the year to ensure a positive campus climate and safety protocols are in place and functioning well. We encourage strong relationship building and communication between the adults and students on and off campus.  Together, we will continue to make Butteville a wonderful and safe place to be!

Finally, we will be conducting an all-school evacuation drill during the first weeks of school and ask that you make sure your child knows that we are responsible for his/her safety during school hours and on school events. Please be aware that we will be conducting off campus drills for short periods of time throughout the year to ensure student safety.

Once again, we are so very excited to begin the new year and can’t wait to see you!
